Кристин Хан о работе на факультете повышения квалификации и переподготовки кадров
Кристин Хан Санёнг, старший преподаватель кафедры последипломного языкового образования ФППК, English Language Fellow, делится своими впечатлениями о работе в МГЛУ.
I have spent the last 10 months at MSLU as an English Language Fellow. I spent my time doing training workshops for the teachers of Minsk’s public schools, and serving as a “Guest-Teacher” in the classes of second-career students. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone in the continuing education department for making my experience so wonderful. From the moment I walked in, all the faculty members have done whatever they could to make me feel welcome, whether it was offering me tea, or accompanying me to a doctor’s appointment to translate for me. I will always remember their kindness. I was also impressed when I saw how dedicated my colleagues were to their students, and their teacher-trainees, and how many hours they put in preparing lessons and workshops without complaint.
I found the time I spent in the training workshops with Minsk’s teachers to be inspiring and humbling. I was inspired by the dedication that the teachers had to improving their skills and serving their students better. They were all very eager to take-in new ideas and very appreciative of everything I had to show them, even if it was something as simple as a helpful grammar website, or a reading handout. I was also humbled by their determination to do their best for their students, and their resilience, despite the many challenges they face in their classrooms. My favorite part of the workshop is seeing the light in the eyes of the teachers when they are practicing a new teaching strategy, or collaborating with me and their colleagues to think of ways to improve their craft.
My only regret is that I had such a short amount of time with each group of teachers. Overall though, I will look back on this experience fondly and I will be forever grateful to everyone here for accepting me into their school. On that note, I say farewell and I hope to see you again when I return to Minsk in the fall.
